Hello! I’m Sahana. So nice to meet you! Here is a little about me...I received my BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Go Illini! I went on to earn my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. Over the years, I’ve provided evidence-based, trauma-focused therapy with young children and teens. In recent years, my focus has grown to encompass parents as well as young clients, helping them navigate the many roles that come with parenthood while staying connected to their own sense of identity. I strive to help parents feel knowledgeable, confident, and equipped with practical tools to understand and manage their own emotions, while also supporting their little ones during big feelings and big behaviors.
With kids and families, I draw from my background in play- and activity-based work to help build these skills in ways that feel natural, engaging, and easy to incorporate into everyday life. I have found that the best learning happens through play and connection!
My primary therapeutic approaches include:
Parent Management Training (PMT)
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
When I’m not working, you can usually find me near the water. I love swimming anywhere I can (pools, lakes, or oceans) and will happily throw on my goggles and jump into the waves. So, naturally, if you ask me to choose, I’ll take hot over cold any day! In a similar vein, I love to eat and have a particular soft spot for spicy foods. The hotter, the better!
